Once in Rome, the first thing i thought about doing was seeing The Colosseum, only when you’re there, can you realize it is the symbol of Rome. The amphitheatre was able to hold up to 55,000 spectators (like the TwinCities NFL stadium for the Minnesota Viking) as they watched gladiator fights, animal fights, etc. It took 10 years to construct. But to find out what’s the best part you should check why architets of today still marvel at the design: The Colosseum can be emptied in about 12 minutes (see if your stadium can be emptied that quickly next time you are at a major sporting event)! Dont you think you can get in there and find out for yourself what other tricks are in the Colosseum?
Thanks for the chance to let me write, greeting from Rome
Hi, Hilary
My fiance and I would like to take a honeymoon trip using local trains through England (&Scotland), France and Italy. Our desire is to be able to get off the train and explore and/or spend the night when we see something interesting.
My questions:
1. Is this feasible? or would it be better to do something like this by car?
2. Do local train stations have someplace to store your bags?
3. Any suggestions from individuals on what to see using this mode of transportation?
Hi Michelle, Is hard to answer to you at first sight, cuz Italy is not a place where you will enjoy cars, everything is so close that you can just walk anywhere, endeed cars are kind of expensive, you can get a lot of public transportation really cheap and sometime but dont tell anybody, free!! Train are now fast and you can go from milan to Rome in less then 4 hours.
bye bye from TwinCities hostel of Rome
I am planing a trip to italy, I found many useful information here, thank you very much.
When visiting the Roman Colosseum, you can avoid the long ticket lines by buying a ticket at the nearby Palatine Hill entrance. You can also get your picture taken with a gladiator outside the Colosseum.
I think the idea of new 7 wonders is excellent. These new wonders are really amazing especially the colosseum. I’ve been there when I was young and it’s very impressive !
However, I miss the old ones. For our memories, I recommand this web site: The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World that describes all the 7 wonders of the ancient world. It iss very interesting.
thanks we sure appreciate your kind comments.
Colosseum is seven wonders of the world,
the colosseum has alot to say about rome historically. i would like to say here that it is the image of rome, a structure that portrays the beauty and pride of the city state.
the colosseum is the image that portrays the beauty and pride of rome.the designers and constructors of the structure are great men.
