The next week stars the Venice Fim Festival: one of the must important event in the World of Cinema.

Venice Film FestivalLooking at the program of the Mostra of Venice number 64 (64th edition) you can see how good is the competition. Also in cinema .

Because the program of Lagoon Kermess, that will be presented from 29 August to 8 September, brings a lot of great authors with both quantity and quality:

A lot of movie start are presented among whom: George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Jude Law, Cate Blanchett, Richard Gere, Keira Knightley, Charlize Theron, Susan Sarandon, Scarlett Johansson.

The great challege for the competitors of the Festa di Roma and Festival di Torino.

There are three films made in Italy, and so it is a lot but without great masters.

The first name , formally annonuced is the one of Vincenzo Marra, author especially liked by those interested in cinema, which at Mostra brings his “L’ora di punta”, embellished by the appearance of the playing the lead role diva Fanny Ardant.

Besides him, there are other less known to fight for Leone d’oro but the director of the event , Marco Mueller, decided to single out: Paolo Franchi with “Nessuna qualità  agli eroi”, with the most wanted actor at the moment Elio Germano and Andrea Porporati with “Il dolce e l’amaro”, with the solid cast that include Fabrizio Gifuni, Luigi Lo Cascio e Donatella Finocchiaro.

In the second secion of the Mostra, named Orizzonti, we find other three films made in Italy: one with fiction – “Mèdèè Miracle” by Tonino De Bernardi – and two documentary, “Madri” di Barbara Cupisti and “Il passaggio della linea” by Pietro Marcello.

But if we take into the cosidaration also short films, different tributes and retrospecitve, the complex number of italian titles go up to 52. You cant forget as well Leone d’oro of the seventy-fifth anniversary, that la Biennale decided to give to Bernardo Bertolucci ( Leone of the career went to Tim Burton).

Great authors: This years list is really impressing. There are a lot of great names taking part in the competition and fighing for Leone d’oro among who:one of the most interesting american directors, Wes Anderson, with “The Darjieeling Limited”; names loved by the public like : Kenneth Branagh, with “Sleuth”; Egyptian master Youssef Chaine, with “Le chaos”;

Brian De Palma, that in “Redacted” explors the horror of the Iraqi conflict ; eccentric Peter Greenaway, that comes back with “Nightwatching”; Paul Haggis, that already won Oscar for “Crash”, with “In the Valley of Elah”; another american that is out of the pattern, Todd Haynes, with “I’m non there”;

The Leone d’oro Ang Lee (for “Brokeback Mountain”), with “It’s a free world…”;two european veterans that Festival loves, Nikita Mikhalkov (with “12″) and Eric Rohmer (with “Les Amours d’Astrèe et Cèladon”). Outside the competition, instead, the last film of Woody Allen(“Cassandra’s dream”); and then Claude Chabrol, icon Takeshi Kitano, the important old Manoel De Oliveira, horror master Jaume Balaguerò…

Great actors: Also here the list is long. It is just impossible not to mention George Clooney

(main character con Tilda Swinton, in “Micheal Clayton” by Tony Gilroy); Brad Pitt, who rivists the Legend of Jesse James directed by Andrew Dominik; Jude Law, that with Michel Caine can be seen in “Sleuth” by Branagh; Tommy Lee Jones, Charlize Theron and Susan Sarandon, ;

In a crowd of such a great actors it is not easy to choose jury that decides who should win Leone d’oro.

The grup made by great directors: president, Zhang Yimou also: Catherine Breillat, Jane Campion, AlejandroGonzalez Inarritu, Paul Verhoeven and our Ferzan Ozpetek ed Emanuele Crialese. Verdict on 8 september.
