A great appointment with the contemporary arts is coming back to Rome: the Roma Europa Festival 2010, an event entirely dedicated to music, dance, cinema and theater that this year is going to celebrate its 25th edition. As usual, in the works we’ll find many international artists, performances, surprises and emotions.
On Tuesday 21st September, the festival will be inaugurated with the Orphée of the Montalvo-Hervieu Company at the Auditorium della Conciliazione.
A real journey in the perspectives of the international artists and in the contemporary arts, where changes of our contemporary world will be put on the stage.
The event schedules 38 appointments, among which we find 20 national premieres and 3 world premieres. There will be important artists who already took part in the preceeding editions, such as Romeo Castellucci, José Montalvo and Dominique Hervieu, Jan Fabre. In addition, many artists will make their début, such as Guy Cassiers, Wajdi Mouawad, Laurie Anderson and Massimiliano Civica.
In the section dedicated to the Music, we will find in the works many events, among them, the Visual Concert taking place on 1st and 2nd October at 8.30 pm at Palladium, an evening dedicated to the music of Kaija Saariaho and Jean-Baptiste Barrière with an audio-visual performance, a deep fusion between musical and visual elements.
In addition, on 2nd October at 11.00 pm we find Sensoralia > Club to Club at Brancaleone. Sensoralia meets the Festival di Musiche e Arti Elettroniche Club to Club, one of the most expected international appointments for all the electronic music-addicted. Take a glimpse into the future!
But we find also more elegant notes thanks to Il Titano on 17th October at Auditorium Parco della Musica at 6.00 pm. The protagonist will be the music of Igor Stravinskij, and it will be performed by Vladimir Jurowski together with the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana.
As for the Cinema, the trilogy entitled “Inferno Purgatorio Paradiso” (“Hell, Purgatory, Heaven”) will be projected on the big screen from 8th to 10th October at Villa Medici. One of the cultural productions that made a mark in the first decade of 2000, a movie created by the French-German television Arte.
And don’t forget about Dance, which will be full of surprises and great appointments, such as the Orphèe on 21st and 22nd September at 8.20 pm at Auditorium Conciliazione.
The Montalvo–Hervieu Companies will present such an event where power and fragility, art and destiny, love, death and immortality melt. The company selected hundreds dancers and singers of many different cultures for such a performance.
On 12th and 13th October, Roma Europa Festival invites you at Palladium for discovering Dewey Dell, a young and talented Italian company of dance and theater, which presents a choreography inspired by the universe of navigation, ships and sailors entitled “Cinquanta urlanti, Quaranta ruggenti, Sessanta stridenti”.
On 13th November at 8.30 pm, at Auditorium Conciliazione you will find Winter Variations, which will put on the stage one of the greatest international choreographers, renowned for his ability in reinventing the classics of music and dance: Gat.
