Florence February Fever: Trend and Chocolate

The city of Florence in winter time, the city of Florence waiting to be visited, the city of Florence dedicating space to suiting everyone’s fancy. Events, despite their young age, that entered Florence winter tradition and that kids and adults await all year long.

On February, 4th two not so similar appointments get under way: in Fortezza Da Basso comes back Immagine Italia & Co. while Piazza Santa Croce will be invaded by expositors rushed in town for Hand-crafted Chocolate Fair.

The 4th edition of Immagine Italia & Co., from February, 4th to 6th , represents for professionals a date that can’t be renounced to explore on preview household linen, seamanship, spa, soft furnishings, underwear and lingerie Made in Italy of course. Since previous editions had a great success, exhibition hall has been extended and it is already been registered full house for expositive enterprises’ surface

Of course, there are also spaces dedicated to territorial productions: particularly, there would be once again “Banchetto Toscano” offering free tasting of typical Tuscany products for the whole exposition time.

“Yes, I’m different” shouts this edition under the Italian flag becoming a peacock feather, proud, beauty and originality symbol, on an elegant black background. An edition that looks everything but gloomy.

Following opening times: on Friday and Saturday from 09:00 to 18:00, on Sunday from 09:00 to 19:00. You can buy the ticket to Fortezza Da Basso abd it’s valid for the entire duration. Easier and no doubt suitable also for families is Hand-crafted Chocolate Fair in its 7th edition, holding the stage in front of Santa Croce’s Basilica in Florence old town center, from February, 4th to 13th.

As it happens for Immagine Italia , the great success of the event induced organization men to double the duration and the space allowed for the Fair. Important meeting point for maitre chocolatier coming from every part of the world, Piazza Santa Croce will receive this year even a photographic display all ten days coming from Alinari Photographic Museum about chocolate production from 1800 till nowadays.

On the occasion of Carnival approaching, the Fair will organize Florentine Carnival: interested people in participating would present themselves in the square in a group masked following a common theme on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th to take a picture. All the photos will be available on the event Facebook page to be voted online until Friday 11th at 12:00.

Winners will see their photo on the newspaper “La Nazione” on Saturday 12th and all the groups are invited in square on Sunday 13th for the out-and-out Carnival party.

All this standing in front of tempting and greedy stalls opened all days from 10:00 to 22:00.

In some restaurants agreed with the Fair visitors would be able to taste dinners in with chocolate as main feature, a unique occasion to get to know all culinary shades of this so loved ingredient.

    It has been 10 years since I last visited Florence. A chocolate fair, now that’s a great reason to visit again!
