Dear big screen’s addicts, even though it’s still very young – but already successful, it has got what it takes, the 6th Video Festival Città d’Imperia comes back in the Ligurian city from April, 12th to 16th 2011.
The cinema competition received 688 works coming from 41 different countries.
The official selection presents many titles related to many different themes, here are some of them: Alla ricerca della vita (Antonio Mano) Animazione Amatori, Sulle tracce dei pinguini in Sud America (Sarah Giannelli) Cat. Explorer Turistico Italy, Le Rendez Fous (Massimo Pibiri) Film Internaz. France, Dentro del bosque (Ecam / Luis Caballero) Film Internaz. Spain, The sinners (Pablo Polledri) Animaz. Internaz. Argentina, Profezie Maja e cerchi nel grano (Luca Trovellesi Cesana) Doc. Professionisti, Lose This Child (Yuval e Merav Nathan) Animazione Internazionale Israel and many others.
Side events will be as many and as much interesting: conferences with authors, protagonists and directors of the movies, exciting debates and little talks will be the perfect scenery for such days dedicated to the big screen. Let’s have a look at some of them.
On April, 13th at 10.30 a.m., the viewing of the movie Capitan Basilico (came out in 2008) will take place at Centro Culturale Polivalente of Imperia, together with the conference with Massimo Morini, who has been the orchestra leader of Sanremo Festival for 10 times and as manager, he guided 125 artists in 27 following editions.
Still today, the movie Capitan basilico does well at the box office. Over 400 actors, 1000 collaborators and 16,000 walk-ons, in the cast of characters we find also the singer Enrico Ruggeri, the comedians Ale e Franz and the writer/comedian/actor Giorgio Faletti. In October 2011 “Capitan Basilico 2” is scheduled to come out.
On April 14th at 10.30 a.m., there will be a conference with Francesco Baccini at Centro Culturale Polivalente, a singer-songwriter from Genoa school, one of the most eclectic singers of contemporary Italian music.
In 2008 for the very first time Baccini becomes actor and his movie Zoè is presented on preview at Giffoni Film Festival, and the movie participates in many festivals in Italy and abroad.
On 15th April at 10.30 a.m. at the same venue, there will be the presentation of the documentary film “Finché peso vivo – La storia di Marina, la vera Principessa sul Pisello”. The story tells that Marina Garaventa, affected by a serious disability, for 7 years has been motionless in her bed: she can’t breathe on her own and she can’t speak, but she lives, fights, communicate with the world through her pc and sms. Around her there is an original and warm family, especially her father Ottavio, an internationally-renowned operatic tenor.
The director Cinzia Bassani took part in several international contests of documentaries and photographs. She has been creating documentaries since 2001, with her predilection for the journey away from tourist destinations, having a great success. Among the people attending the event, there will be also the director Cinzia Bassani and the producer Beppe Anderi who will answer the audience’ questions.
Don’t forget about the Gran Gala of the Video Festival: on 16th April at 9 p.m. be elegant and come to the Teatro Cavour. There will be the prize-giving ceremony for the winners of the 6th edition of the Video Festival Città d’Imperia.
In addition, there will be a burlesque show performer by the Burlesque School Milano. The evening will be put on-air on Imperia TV channel.
