The Classic Cars’ Road Race “Mille Miglia 2011” is at the Starting Line

From May, 12th to 14th, the historical commemoration of the Mille Miglia comes back in Italy. “The world’s greatest road race”, as it was called by Enzo Ferrari: 375 extraordinary classic cars on the historic Brescia-Rome-Brescia route.

There’s not long to wait now before the fabulous world appointment with the vintage motor racing. The Godmother of this edition’s race is the beautiful Madalina Ghenea, who comes from her success in “Dancing with the Stars”.

An event which every year becomes more and more important for the representation of the Italian capital and our international prestige. It’s an illustrious example of Made in Italy in the eyes of the world.

The president of Mille Miglia Alessandro Casali stated: “With this year’s race, we wish to surpass the already extraordinary success that we have had in previous years. The Mille Miglia is a true legend that grows from year to year. It affirms itself even more as the symbol of passion for cars, for adventure, for challenges. And also as an international symbol of our country and its excellences.”

The Freccia Rossa (Red Arrow of the Mille Miglia) will be back along the roads of Italy from May 12th to 14th, 84 years after its inception.

Along the historic route going from Brescia to Rome and back, 375 cars— selected from over 1,400 requests – built between 1927 and 1957 – will challenge each other and themselves. They will cross 7 regions of Italy, 177 towns, and one foreign state (San Marino) passing through some of the most picturesque areas of the Italian landscape.

The start is scheduled for May, 12th from Viale Venezia in Brescia. The racing cars will pass by the characteristic historical centres of about 147 municipalities, including Modena, where the vintage cars will parade in front of the birthplace of Enzo Ferrari, where the house is today a museum.

Next will come Bologna, Spoleto, Siena, and Florence, reaching Rome on Saturday night, in the wonderful Castel Sant’Angelo, as background, to then return to Brescia on May 14th.

In addition, after last year’s success, also this edition welcomes the Ferrari Tribute at Mille Miglia, with the presence of 130 fabulous vintage and modern Ferraris preceding the cars in the race.
