Turin Traffic Festival 2011 has many surprises in store. This edition will show its very Italian side: the goal is representing about 40 years of Italian music during four evenings, with different themes by linking past, present and – why not – future.
From the youth of ‘70s to the youth of today. This is the stylish way in which Traffic pays homage to the 150th anniversary of Italian Unity.
From July, 5th to 10th 2011, get ready for a great agenda full of special events, with great names of Italian music: on July, 7th the festival begins with Francesco De Gregori’s performance with the guest Cristina Donà. Finally, the group Le luci della centrale elettrica.
On Friday 8th, we will see on the main stage Edoardo Bennato and Pierpaolo Capovilla, elected “man of the year” in January by the weekly magazine L’Espresso for crude poetics expressed by Il Teatro degli Orrori. The last rock band playing will be Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti.
On Saturday 9th, spotlight on Italian rock music in the world. In the middle of ‘70s, the Italian band PFM was a symbol of Italian rock music and they were known in three continents. The Verdena are following in their footsteps with the last album, Wow, which is not just a best seller in hit parades, but also a masterpiece that will go down in history. Finally, the Turin’s group Stearica, who play progressive and post rock music.
On the last day, Sunday 10th, we will see the men who took part in the gatherings organized in the middle of 70s and published records for the legendary Cramps Records. The international popular group called Area, the rocker of the free radio Eugenio Finardi, the singer Claudio Rocchi and Tourin’s founding fathers of Jazz rock Arti e Mestieri.
In addition, Traffic by Night offers many other side events, such as fashion shows at midnight and open clubs with DJ sets. The central venue is Cortile della Farmacia at Museo Regionale di Scienze Naturali.
As for the nights with Italian DJS, people will dance to the tune of international artists: Luca Baldini, Riva STARR and TIGER & WOODS. In addition, Turin orchestra Tacuma accompanied by the world of fashion, represented by stylists like GAIA AUDINO, AUTOPSIE VESTIMENTAIRE, BORN IN BERLIN, WALTER DANG and DILETTA FORGNONE GIANERI. The intention is to create new alchemies fostering the crossing of two dimensions which are similar by nature.
Other appointments are expected with Traffic Cinema, Traffic Art and Favole Italiane (exhibitions, meetings and much more).
