57th Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago presents its 2011Playbill

The most awaited summer event in Versilia is coming back: the 57th Puccini Festival will take place from 22nd July to 27th August 2011 at the Great Open-air Theatre dedicated to Giacomo Puccini in Torre del Lago.

Since 1930, the Puccini festival has become a more and more famous event gathering thousands spectators from all over the world. Its 2011 Playbill schedules two new stagings: La Bohème and Madama Butterfly coproduced with the Japanese NPO, besides Turandot.

Torre del Lago, home of the Puccini Festival, lies between the Lake of Massaciuccoli and the Tyrrhenian Sea, 4 km far from the magnificent beaches of Viareggio on the Tuscan Riviera, 18 km from Lucca and Pisa. The Festival welcomes about 40.000 spectators every year in its open-air theatre. Torre del Lago is a favourite destination of opera lovers and tourists who wish to visit the places where the most beloved composer of the 20th century lived.

Now, let’s take a look at the 2011 Playbill of the Festival:

La Bohème (new staging coproduced with Hong Kong Opera House): 22nd/30th July and 12th/20th/27th August;

Turandot: 23rd/29th July and 7th/13th/26th August;

Madama Butterfly (new staging coproduced with NPO Tokio): 6th/11th/18th August;

Madama Butterfly (Auditorium Enrico Caruso): 16th/17th/19th August.

In addition, as usual, there will be many great guests for entertain visitors in Versilia’s crazy nights: the musical by Cocciante Notre Dame de Paris on 31st August and 1st/2nd/3rd September. The Italian band Pooh will play on 9th August, the Italian singer Massimo Ranieri on 10th August, Carlo Colombara on 24th July. In addition, visitors will have the chance to see the famous dancer Roberto Bolle on 26th July in a dance performance and finally, Corps et Ames Compagnie Julien Lestel will be on the stage on 24th August.

Festival Puccini 2011 presents great names as usual: great voices, musicians and international dancers will give its visitors unforgettable emotions.
