2013 May Day Concert in Rome

The May Day Concert will be held in Rome, in Piazza del Laterano: once again it is organized by trade unions CIGL, CISL and UIL.

Over the years, this event has become one of the most important ones in Italy: every year, it gathers thousands young and less young people from all regions of Italy; the importance of the event is also confirmed by the fact that people will have the chance to watch the whole concert through a live TV broadcast by RAI.

The 24th edition of the Concert has the title “Music for the new world. Spaces, roots, borders” focusing on the theme of cosmopolitanism and the people of all the countries of the planet. The comic Geppi Cucciari will host the show.

There will be important and famous singers such as Nicola Piovani, Fabri Fibra, the Italian National of the Rock and many other bands. In addition, the orchestra will play songs by Lucio Dalla, Battisti, Celentano, De Gregori, Jannacci. The inevitable Mameli anthem will be presented by Giovanni Sollima with 100 cellists.

The 2013 edition will also present the new competition 1′M Festival, entirely dedicated to emerging musicians, who, by posting their own music videos on the website www.1mfestival.com, will have the chance to perform at the great park of Piazza San Giovanni in Laterano in Rome.
