Venice Marathon is back: Running in the Lagoon

Get ready! On 27th October, 28th edition of Venice Marathon will take place in the beautiful lagoon.

The A.S.D. Venice Marathon has always been in support of fundraising initiatives and still today tries to help the most unlucky and needy people by supporting the most important social issues. As a matter of fact, this year the Marathon will be run in order to help the “Walk of Life” project about genetic disorders by Telethon, the “Bambini in gamba” project by Alex Zanardi and the “Run for Water – Run for Life” project by Africa Mission.

The sport event will start at 9.20 am from Stra (a little town located 15 km away from Venice) and will end in the historical center of Venice, on the platform called Riva Sette Martiri, in a panoramic position facing the lagoon.

The path, essentially flat and fast, is little more than 40 kilometers long and the only difficulties are represented by short stretches of uphill road (each one measuring about 100 metres in length).

Also, from Monday 21st to Sunday 27th October, a week full of events and special guests will wait for you.

From 25th to 26th October, San Giuliano di Mestre Park will host the Exposport Venice Marathon Village, the Open Sport, the activities organized by Coni for sport promotion, and the Family Run.

Martina Caironi is one of the most expected guests of such a great event, the gold medal in the 100 metres competition at 2012 London Paraolympics, as well as Stefano Baldini, the Olympic marathon champion, and Daniele Molmenti, the canoeing gold medal in London 2012.
