Design comes back in Milan. Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2010

For all high quality design and furniture addicts, the renowned and very expected event Salone Internazionale del Mobile - the international furniture fair - has come back in Milan!

The trade fair Salone Internazionale del Mobile as usual will take place in the city of Milan from April 14th to 19th 2010, together with the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition inside the same showroom. Both fairs will offer you the best you can find on the international market, all kinds of furniture and furnishing accessories and all the styles, from classical to modern design.

In addition, also this year visitors will find other two biennials: Eurocucina with its side event FTK and International Bathroom Exhibition, together with the Salone Satellite, the area exclusively dedicated to young designers.

From April 14th to 19th, the fair will be reserved to the professionals of the sector, whereas it will be open to public on Sunday 18th April from 9.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Turin 2010: Holy Shroud Exposition and an Exhibition about the Figure of Jesus

Ten years after the last Exposition on the occasion of the jubilee year, once again the Holy Shroud will be on display from April 10th to May 23rd 2010 at the Cathedral of Turin.

In fact, this year it will be possible to marvel at the Holy Shroud after the intervention it underwent in 2002.

Everybody knows the famous Shroud, the holy linen sheet measuring 442 cm long by 113 cm high plus a 8 cm strip sewed lengthwise; on the tissue there is a faint impression of an image, the frontal and dorsal one of a man who suffered the death of crucifixion.

According to tradition, it could be the sheet quoted in the Gospel which was used to cover and wrap Jesus body in the Sepulchre, but such a hypothesis has been not proved yet by scientific research.

Rome steeped in Art, between Contemporanea 4th Edition and MAXXI

Have you already seen the 4th edition of Contemporanea? Well my friends, you still have a month to go to the eternal city and marvel at great ideas and real masterpieces.

In fact, since last September, the original festival called “Contemporanea - art, visual, music, performance” is ongoing at Auditorum Parco della Musica in Rome; created by Oscar Pizzo and become extremely renowned, it will be open until May 12th 2010.

Undiscovered Islands in Genoa

No, we’re not talking about a geographical discovery, but an original exhibition held in Genoa!

In fact, from March 2010, the Royal Palace in Genoa will host an exhibition called “Isole mai trovate – Undiscovered islands”, an international project.

This is the first stop of an itinerary which will bring the artworks to France, Spain and Greece, a project by Lóránd Hegyi, Director-general of Musée d’Art Moderne of St.Etienne, the museum hosting the third most important collection of Modern Art in France.

The masterpieces have been created by over 40 renowned international artists who, on this occasion, represented their own “undiscovered island”, a metaphor for suggesting a part of life or an inner inquiry.

In the Region of Liguria, La Spezia celebrates St. Joseph’s Day

Once again, from March 19th to 21st 2010, La Spezia is going to celebrate St. Joseph’s Day, patron saint of the city, with its famous town fair.

The city of La Spezia, located in the Eastern Riviera of the Region of Liguria, every year hosts thousands visitors coming from other Italian regions. Traditionally, the town fair counts about 800 typical stalls belonging to hawkers and craftsmen coming from the province of La Spezia and the neighboring Regions - Emilia Romagna and Tuscany -  and from Northern Italy.

The event was conceived in 1565 in order to develop the trade of the area. In fact, visitors will find on sale many typical products, delicacies, sweets, toys, clothes and shoes, junk jewelry and any sort of household and gift items.

Mapping the Studio in Venice: a François Pinault’s Collection

Punta della Dogana, the triangular-shaped Center for Contemporary Art located in Venice, since last June 6th has been hosting many works belonging to François Pinault’s collection.

The former monumental port of the city will host a permanent exhibition entitled “Mapping the Studio: Artists from the François Pinault Collection” until June 6th 2010. Therefore, visitors will still have a few months to go to the stunning and picturesque city of Venice in order to visit Palazzo Grassi, which together with Punta della Dogana, will be the background (more…)

Knights and Templars in a special Exhibition in Turin

Since November 28th 2009, an interesting exhibition dedicated to the legendary knights templar, soldiers and crusaders is under way at the complex of Venaria Reale in Turin.

The exhibition, entitled “Knights. From the Templars to Napoleon” will take place until April 11th 2010, so visitors will have still a few months to retrace the history of such valorous and brave knights who have been portrayed and shown in about 120 works on display: statues, paintings, dresses, wonderful armours, precious jewels and rare manuscripts. A real treasure to marvel at, in all its splendour and majesty.

In fact, the exhibition, organized by the Consorzio di Valorizzazione Culturale La Venaria Reale and hosted by the Reggia, is aimed to tell the several stories of the different knightly orders belonging to different ages, from Middle Ages to Renaissance, who fought in the name of Christ (more…)

ArteGenova : The 6th Exhibition of Modern and Contemporary Art

ArteGenova” comes back in the city of Genoa, in Liguria, and spreads its own creativity. An event entirely dedicated to all modern and contemporary art-addicted and simple curious people. Last Days for Viareggio Carnival 2010

February, the month of carnivals, arrived finally in the city of Viareggio! From the last day of January, with appointments on February 7th, 14th, 16th 2010, the streets of the city become a colorful parade of real works of art, all inspired by the actualities from all over the world. And now, you have still the last day to visit Viareggio: on February 21st!

BLOOMING SANREMO 2010

The festival “bloomed” for the first time in 1904 in honor of the Goddess Flora and, since then, it started its annual edition with a brake from 1966 until 1980.
