Notte Lido Blu

On Saturday 26th of July, Lido di Camaiore will become the most funniest town of Versilia: twelve hours of entertainments of any sort will create the most important event of the versilian summer: “Notte Lido Blu” (Lido Blue Night).
The event will take place in four different squares of the Lido and on the beaches ahead, with two special partners: RIP CURL and W.I.T.C.H. (the Disney monthly magazine).

In LEMMETTI SQUARE will take place the second and last Italian stage of the Rip Curl Girls tour 2008. This is the 6th edition of the Rip Curl Tour and after six years they have taught surfing to more than 20.000 girls. Professional surf teachers like Elise Garrique, the Rip Curl official testimonial whose life is divided between fashion runways and surf boards, and Valentina Dazzeo, the 2007 Italian Champion, will be engaged in introducing girls to the waves riding. RomaEstate 2008

Summer is coming…so “RomaEstate” comes back from the 5th of June to the 10th of August in the Foro Italico gardens, as well as last year with a calendar full of events. Starting with Max Giusti, back to cabaret with the 4th of July show and repeating it on the 26th of July (an exclusive show for RomaEstate), continuing with the concert of the legendary rock band Jethro Tull and concluding with the Tommy Emmanuel show, one of the most important guitar player now, famous for the collaborations with George Harrison, Mark Knopfler and Eric Clapton.
But the program of “RomaEstate 2008″ foresees other entertainments:
The “Texas hold’em“, the texan poker that obtained a great success in the last edition and to which this year are dedicated 600 square metres with 20 card tables. In this edition new special (more…)

The Barber of Seville: the great opera in the Tuscany summer.

Innovation and search, style and prestige on the new calendar of the OperaFestival 2008 season. Among these events we have to remark the presence of the Gioachino Rossini’s opera buffa “The Barber of Seville“, that will be presented both in the charming atmosphere of the medicean villa of Cafaggiolo (near Barberino di Mugello) on Friday 18th of July and in the Boboli Gardens in Florence on Wednesday 30th of July.

The theme of Rossini’s opera is based on the first of the plays from the Figaro trilogy, by French playwright Pierre Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais, while Mozart’s opera “Le nozze di Figaro” - composed 30 years earlier, in 1786 - is based on the second part of the same trilogy.

Festa del redentore (The Redemeer Day)

The Redentore began as a celebration to give thanks for the end of the terrible plague of 1576, which killed 50,000 people (25-30 per cent of the population), including the great painter Tiziano Vecellio (Titian). The Festa del Redentore remains a major festival in the Venetian calendar, celebrated on the third Sunday of July. The most important place of the festival is Giudecca, one of the islands of Venice, situated to the south of the city center, where the Andrea Palladdio’s Chiesa del Santissimo Redentore (Church of the Most Holy Redemeer) was built.

On Saturday 19th of July, the eve of the festival, fireworks of the most varied colours and shapes are let off. Preparations start early in the morning when people begin to decorate their boats, or the small wooden terraces on rooftops from where they can admire the fireworks. From the early afternoon, Saint Mark’s basin fills with up to 2,000 boats of all kinds, decorated with balloons and garlands: the water surface is full of thousands of boats and lights, and thousands of Venetians awaiting the fireworks while dining on the boats. Lucca Summer Festival

The Lucca Summer Festival comes back with the music program including concerts of many Italian and international artists and it will take place inside the city walls, in the old center of Lucca, “Piazza Napoleone“.
We can reveal some information about the artists: the Patty Pravo Italian tour includes a reinterpretation of the song “La bambola” and Leonard Cohen will have a comeback with a worldwide tour after fifteen years of inactivity. Ennio Morricone will conduct the “Roma sinfonietta” orchestra, the “New roman lyric symphonic orchestra” and the “Claudio Casini” chorus of the Tor Vergata university. At the Festival there will be the Young Summer Competition (21-07-2008), the music contest for rookie bands and lead singers that will go live on Match Music (Sky tv).

TRAFFIC - Turin Free Festival

In the works from 7th to 12th of July there will be the fifth edition of TRAFFIC - TORINO FREE FESTIVAL with six days of free concerts. As well as last years best Italian and international music will be the first act of the festival, which according to the tradition, will be totally free.
Traffic is a free music festival which yearly happens in Turin since 2004 and it is organized on several nights, with concerts displaced in all the parks of the city of Turin. The epicentre of the festival, where the most important concerts will take place, is the park of Pellerina.
But Traffic is not the only one of the most important Italian musical events, but it is also characterized by the wealth of the program, including transversal activities in all the parts of the city. In fact the more interesting peculiarity that characterized the Torino Free Festival since the beginning, is the basic theme: the one of 2008 will be Punk, and in honour of this musical evocation we could see on the stage the (more…)

Novegro Summer Festival 2008: The Beer Festival!!

As well as last year the legendary Novegro summer festival – Beer Festival, will take place starting from Friday 27 June to Sunday 13 July with a wonderful program: It will be possible to taste every kind of beer, to take part in beer tasting courses, concerts, cabaret shows, the awesome disco night and the entertainment for the children will be organized. Everything is happening in the new green area of the Novegro Exposition Park (Milan – Italy).

The protagonist of the festival will be the “beer”, principally the hand crafted one from a lot of European countries, with the opportunity to take part in free tasting courses organized by the Beer Tasting Association (every night ‘til 9.30 pm) and the chance of tasting beers with palatable food of any sort dedicated area, opened since 6.30 pm to 2 am.

Milano Moda Uomo presents new 2009 spring-summer collection

Once again high fashion is shown in Italy, once again the destination chosen to this purpose is the city of Milan.
Well, the Italian capital has been turned again into the meeting point of famous high fashion stylists who are there to show their 2009 spring-summer collections.

Starting from Saturday the 21st, the best prêt-� -porter clothing for men and the most famous accessories brands for spring-summer 2009, will be shown on Italian fashion runways until June 24th. According to the final program, published by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana - the body dealing with organization and management of this event - fashion shows started on Saturday 21st of June with Gaetano Navarra, during the same day followed by Missoni, Jil Santander and Versace. Sunday 22nd was the time of famous stylists such as Salvatore Ferragamo, Gianfranco Ferrè, Prada, Roberto Cavalli. Again, today Coveri, Biagiotti, Gucci, Moschino and Krizia, arriving to Tuesday the 24th, when you will find among the others, Armani, Fendi and Marni. Byblos will close the fair.

A long weekend in Florence!!! The White Night, the Historic Football Match (Calcio Storico) and San Giovanni’s day

On Saturday the 21st of June, there will be the 13rd edition of the Florence’s White Night in the Oltrarno (the section of Florence on the other side of the Arno), which is one of the historical quarters of Florence.

“Nottarno” will be a long evening full of strictly free events, with the intent to go through the streets and the squares of the historical centre of Florence in a different way: from Santo Spirito square to Piazza della Passera, from via dei Bardi to Palazzo Pitti.

It will be an out-and-out celebration among music and tastings to suit everybody’s fancy and all-ages.

 Artisan workshops, stores, restaurants and pubs will be the backdrop of this wonderful night, that you will live toghether in the suggestive location of the city of Florence.

But the party does not end here. Who lives in Florence, but also who will have the possibility to stop over here for some day, will be able to attend two other important traditional manifestations of Florence: the fireworks of San Giovanni’s day and the final match of the Historical Football of Florence.

 The 24 of June is San Giovanni Battista’s day, the patron saint of Florence. As every year, there will be spectaculars fireworks, launched from Piazzale Michelangelo, to celebrate the feast of the patron San Giovanni the Baptist.

According to the tradition, Saint Giovanni became the patron of the city of Florence only with the complete conversion of the city to Christianity. Therefore, he already was it in the Lombard period.

To its honour, it was also rised the Baptistery. The character of San Giovanni dominated for centuries the city of Florence.Every year, on the 24th of June, the city of Florence celebrates the feast of its patron with a series of manifestations that attract the whole city.

Thereby, in the morning of the 24th of June, the Historical Parade goes from Piazza della Singoria to the Baptistery to offer candles to the patron. It follows the solemn mass with the ostension of the relic of the Saint. At the end of the mass, in the night of the 24, in the Piazzale Michelangelo there will be San Giovanni’s fireworks, which attract a lot of people in the Lungarni zone.

San Giovanni’s day will also coincides with the final date of the Historical Football Match of Florence. This year, the protagonists of this match will be the Azzurri’s team and the Rossi’s team after that the Azzurri’s one beated the Bianchi’s one. (more…)

Pitti Uomo N. 74 18 - 21 June 2008 Florence

As every year, in the month of June for three days, Florence turns into the pillar of International male Fashion by giving hospitality to one of the most important Fashion Exhibitions in the world: Pitti Immagine Uomo.

From the 18th to the 21th of June, the Fortezza da Basso hosts again “Pitti Uomo”, which has come by now at its 74 edition. It is the exhibition that presents the 2009 spring summer collections.

There will be 688 firms and more than 800 brand names, 200 of which are foreigner.

The sections displayed will be 15.

This year the bike, meant as accessory of fashion and design, plays the starring role. It is the center of a striking installation created by Oliviero Baldini, which stands in the central square of the Fortezza.

Free Cycle - Free Mobility is the new topic of Pitti Uomo’s Layout.

For the layout of this edition, Pitti Uomo takes inspiration from a topical subject that is the ecosustainable mobility, and in this field the bike represents more and more the symbol of a daily aesthetics and a cult object.

Thanks to the collaboration with ANCMA (NATIONAL ASSOCIATION CYCLE MOTORCYCLE ACCESSORIES), the bike will be the main object of the show’s exhibition stands. (more…)
