
Until 2nd June 2008 Palazzo Reale in Milan will host an exceptional exhibition dedicated to one of the greatest representatives of Italian Futurism: Giacomo Balla.
At the exhibition called “Giacomo Balla - La Modernità Futurista” (”Giacomo Balla - The Futurist Modernity“) it will be possible admire the whole Balla’s futuristic production, movement to which the artist conformed later than his contemporaries. The exhibition is founded on the study and the analysis of his futuristic artworks, true fount of energy.
Virtuosities of shapes and colours, broken shapes which give movement to the pictures. Artworks which still talk about sensations and shivers, maybe because of Balla’s previous artworks.
Spectators can admire about 200 artworks on exhibition, and for this occasion they will have the chance to retrace the whole artistic itinerary of the painter, highlighting the crucial moments of change.

In 2008 Turin has been elected the first World Capital Design by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design.
Indeed, Turin has been recognised as one of the cities which mostly distinguishes itself by having an international leading role in the area of design and because since many years it hosts several artistic workshops and many centres of style and design which contribute to the spread of this branch.
Since years the capital of Piedmont region is a leading planning design centre, because it is linked to a long entrepreneurial tradition, it is engaged in the urban renewal and it claims the image of an industrial Turin (the new European Turin!) by carring out design projects characterized by a particular attention for innovation and a strong creativity.
Proud of being deserving the desired qualification of World Capital Design, in the year of its charge the city of Turin has prepared a long list of aims and projects to develop in the course of 2008.

“Fotografia-Festival Internazionale di Roma” comes back with its 7th edition. The event is dedicated to the exposition of the most original and brilliant photos of contemporaneous affirmed and emerging photographers, who every year
This year, as the artistic director Marco Delogu decided, the king of the castle will be Normality. Clicks of lived life, stolen to the everyday life, moments, split seconds of a day trapped into a click. Nort even an extravagance or peculiarity, normality only, this is the mentality of the new edition of the International Festival of Rome which every year awards the best talents of photography.
Supported by the town council of Rome with the production of Zoneattive, this year the Festival will be divided into three different exhibition’s itineraries according to the category, therefore it will be housed in three different seats: Palazzo delle Esposizioni, the Museum of Rome in Trastevere, an area on the west bank of the river Tevere, and the National Gallery of Modern Art.
At Palazzo delle Esposizioni, in a manner of speaking the centre of the manifestation, the photos of three young photographers will be exhibited; they are Paolo Woods, Leonie Purchas e Lucia Nimcowa, whose creations contribute to enrich tinternational artistic background of photography.

ART 2008, the market exhibition of international Crafts, comes back to Florence at Fortezza da Basso from 25th April to 4th May.
It is now a habitual appointment between the city of Florence and Art, the most famous craft fair in the world, which every year gathers the best craft creations exhibited along an itinerary characterized by inspiration and originality.
Art, to which this year about 800 among Italian and foreign exhibitors take part, represents a real match point between demand and offer, between the craft businesses and the most affectionate consumers, who, absorbed in a scenary of innovation and steady evolution, will have the chance to choose between several craft products, from typical food, to special gifts and jewels.

The “71° Maggio Musicale Fiorentino - Donne Contro” (”71st edition of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino - Women against “) will start on 26th April, and it’s Florence music festival which until 1st July will give us as a gift a season rich of art and music.
The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino is one of the most ancient concerts in Europe and its fame and prestige is due to its cultural choices which characterize every edition of this musical event.
This music festival presents a long and interesting calendar with theatre performances and dance shows in collaboration with some of the greatest masters of international opera, and also set designers, painters and sculptors who created the wonderful scenographies of the plays.
The Teatro Comunale (Town Theatre) host this magnificent Florence event which can host up to 2003 spectators, and every year it’s dedicated to an elaboration of a historic and cultural period, most of all of music, as for example the editions dedicated to Esxpressionism or Romanticism.
The name “Music Festival of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino” is due to its origins. In fact the festival, founded in 1933, descends from the ancient spring celebrations which were made in Florence and Tuscany, called “Calendimaggio”.

The city of Venice dedicates an exhibition to one of the artists that mostly made Venice one of the world art capital, Tiziano.
The exhibition’s name is The last Tiziano and the sensuality of his painting and it will be housed in the Venice Accademy Galleries until next 20th April.
The title symbolizes the exhibition itself, because it is dedicated to Tiziano’s last artworks, about 28 masterpieces painted between 1550 and 1576, year of his death, which come from the greatest museums in Europe.
Tiziano’s last artworks are characterized by the creation and development of a curious tecnique called “pittura a macchia” (spotted painting), which has always been the object of international study and research. Tiziano has a his own style, easily recognizable, characterized by quick and sometimes inaccurate marks, with no drafts, which makes figures real and alive, and together with subjects sensuality makes unique these artworks. Until 14th April the “Museo del tessuto” (”Textile Museum”) in Prato will house an exhibition whose aim is to honor the father of the “Made in Italy” Ernesto Michaelles, world-notorious with the name of THAYAHT.

The exhibition is made up of materials and photos of the artist and his creations which bring the spectators through the history of this personage, underlining his main turning points in his relationship as disigner with fashion and textile.
In the exhibition there are about 300 exhibited objects, but his most famous creation occupies the first palce: La Tuta, the piece of clothing which made him famous throughout the world.
Infact, you need to know that the tuta, that is to say the T-shaped tracksuit, one of the most innovative and futuristic apparel item in history, was projected by Thayaht in 1929, and it was flattered for its cheapness and handiness.
There are several versions of tuta, for example the one called “Angeli del fango” (”Mud Angels”) which was used during Florence flood in 1966. (more…)

On next 6th April the most expected sport event by the runners of our country comes back: ‘Stramilano 2008‘.
‘StraMilano’ is the most famous extracity in Italy, an event which, from 1972, gives as a gift to the city of Milan an entirely day dedicated to sport, to health, to solidarity, and to entertainment.
This year StraMilano is scheduled on 6th April, and once again, it will include professional and amateurs athletes who come from all over the world. StraMilano is dedicated to everyone, with no age, sex or “speed” discrimination.
Infact, the marathon, for its participants, divides itself into three! Right, because during the day of 6th April there will be three different itineraries which will go through the city: ‘StraMilano of 50,000′, ‘StraMilano Agonistica Internazionale’ (International Agonistic Stramilano) and ‘Stramilanina’ (The little StraMilano).

The Burst of the Cart is an ancient celebration which dates back to the first crusade, and which Florence inhabitants love.
This manifestation takes place every year in Piazza Duomo (Dome Square), where there is the “Brindellone”, that is the wonderful three-floor cart which is the celebration’s protagonist.
At this point, a rocket formed as a dove, Easter peace’s symbol, comes down hanging on a thread which goes from the main choir of the Dome to the cart, and if the celebration is successfull, it burns and emits a wonderful play of lights, colours, smoke and outbreaks.
The story of the Burst of the Cart is rich of religious and historic details, a beautiful story, rich of turns of events, and it’s a really important chapter in Florence and its inhabitants history.

“Milano dell’acqua” (”Milan & Waters”) is the name of a particular and suggestive event which takes place in these days in Milan and is born to value and appreciate the landscape and the history around the city of Milan, sometimes unknown by its own inhabitants.
The event has started on 14th February and is divided into a list of appointments which will give foreigners and people from Milan the opportunity to discover the territorial waters of the city through an unusual and suggestive itinerary, from the city Aquarium, to the Navigli and covered water channels of the city.
There will be 20 appointments which will lead all the participants in the historic, artistic and cultural reconstruction of the hidden part of Milan, certainly the most beautiful and interesting one.
Among many cultural projects, there are also lots of events for kids, and for all the participants there’s a brochure of the route full of images of the most beautiful water places.
“Milano dell’acqua” is part of the project “Cento Milano” (”One Hundred Milan”) and, as expected, it represents the fourth event, which will be followed in May by (more…)
