Videogames and Comics are coming back to Lucca, in Italy

From 28th October to 1st November 2011, the Lucca Comics & Games 2011 will be held in the Tuscan city of Lucca, the international fair of comics.

This year the edition will welcome guests like David Llyoid, Manuele Fior, Davide Reviati and the Japanese Jiro Taniguchi.

6th edition of International Rome Film Festival

5th Festival MiTo SettembreMusica – Concerts and Events in Turin & Milan

From 3rd to 22nd September 2011, the Festival hosting great Italian and international artists comes back in Milan and Turin: MiTo Torino Milano Festival Internazionale della Musica (International Music Festival).

MiTo, one of the greatest cultural events in Europe, presents over 200 concerts of classical, contemporary, jazz, pop, rock, regional and ethnic music, with free admission or “low-cost” tickets.

68th Venice Film Festival – August, 31st – September, 10th 2011

Once again, the 68th edition of Venice Film Festival will be organized by Venice Biennale and will take place at Lido in Venice from August, 31st to September, 10th 2011.

Count Down for 3rd edition of Filmcaravan has just begun – the International Travelling Shorts Fest

From Wednesday 3rd to Saturday 6th August 2011, the most expected summer event in Imperia will come back: Filmcaravan, the International Travelling Shorts Fest.

After the official presentation of Filmcaravan in Montecarlo on the observation platform of NI BOX, the event will begin as usual during the first week of August in the striking Piazza dei Corallini in Cervo (province of Imperia, Liguria Region).

The festival will start on 3rd August at 9.30 p.m. with the out-of-competition documentary film entitled Kawalek Lata, created by the Polish director Marta Minorowicz who won the great prize

Versiliana Festival 2011 in Pietrasanta: Theater Performances, Comedians and Ballets

The 32nd edition of Versiliana Festival has just begun for a month but will keep on entertaining spectators until 31st August 2011.

Versiliana Festival, the most important event of Versilia’s cultural summer, keeps on presenting its magical theater performances, ballets, concerts and the shows of the best Italian comedians in the city of Pietrasanta placed on the Versilia Coast (Tuscany).

The next appointment at the great open-air theater of Parco della Versiliana will be with the performance “I Masnadieri” going on stage on 29th and 30th July 2011.

Liguria Lights up Summer 2011 with the Festival of the Sea in Levanto

On 24th and 25th July 2011, the great celebrations come back in the beautiful city of Levanto, in the province of La Spezia (Liguria Region): the 43rd edition of the Festival of the Sea.

The event is celebrated every year in honor of St Giacomo, the protector saint of the seafaring community. Initially, the event had a purely religious character, but soon it was integrated with the medieval birth of the Municipality of Levanto in 1230.

The most spectacular parts of the festival take place on 24th and 25th July (St Giacomo’s day), with historical processions, medieval tournaments, and the procession of the crucifixes and the statue of the Saint.

57th Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago presents its 2011Playbill

The most awaited summer event in Versilia is coming back: the 57th Puccini Festival will take place from 22nd July to 27th August 2011 at the Great Open-air Theatre dedicated to Giacomo Puccini in Torre del Lago.

Since 1930, the Puccini festival has become a more and more famous event gathering thousands spectators from all over the world. Its 2011 Playbill schedules two new stagings: La Bohème and Madama Butterfly coproduced with the Japanese NPO, besides Turandot.

Torre del Lago, home of the Puccini Festival, lies between the Lake of Massaciuccoli and the Tyrrhenian Sea, 4 km far from the magnificent beaches of Viareggio on the Tuscan Riviera, 18 km from Lucca and Pisa. The Festival welcomes about 40.000 spectators

Redentore Festival 2011 in Venice

Redentore Festival in the beautiful and charming city of Venice is coming back. It’s one of the most ancient and traditional events of Venice and since 1576 it has been celebrating.

This year the event will be held on July, Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th 2011. Venetians love this kind of celebration and most of all they wait for the famous and magical night of fireworks in the lagoon. A real light show surrounded by a charming atmosphere!

In the past, such an event was celebrated to remember the end of one of the most serious plague epidemics in Venice.

On Saturday 16th July 2011, Venetians will begin with the preparations of the boats and the deliciousness for the dinner. Visitors will have the chance to see the celebrations of Redentore Festival taking a seat in the several balconies, on boats or in the streets of the city, even enjoying one of the many interesting itineraries in Venice.

And now, let’s have a look at the events scheduled:

Saturday 16th July 2011 – At 7 p.m., the votive bridge made up of punts joining the Redentore Church with the Giudecca Island will be open. At 9.30 p.m., the will be a concert of Banda Musicale di Tessera C.C.R.T. at Fondamenta Zattere who will play Venetian traditional music. At 11.30 p.m., a striking fireworks show will wonder the crowd in the St. Mark’s Basin (on the background of the famous, stunning Piazza San Marco) until midnight.

Sunday 17th July 2011 – At 11.30 a.m. Giardini della Marinaressa (Riva Sette Martiri) will be open to the public. The Redentore Regattas will begin at 4 p.m., whereas at 7 p.m. the Holy Mass will be held at Redentore Church.

In addition, an extraordinary public transportation service will be activated on this occasion. In the night of Saturday 16th July, the following trains will be extraordinarily activated from Venice to the main cities of the Veneto Region:

- From Venice Santa Lucia to Mestre: departures at 01:01 – 01:10 – 01:20 – 01:50 – 02:05 a.m.
- From Venice Santa Lucia to Padova: departures at 02:10 a.m., with stops in all the stations but Porto Marghera;
- From Venice Santa Lucia to Treviso: departures at 02:42 a.m., with stops in Mestre, Mogliano Veneto, Preganziol;
- From Venice Santa Lucia to Vicenza: departures at 02:50 a.m., with stops in all the stations but Porto Marghera.

Finally, the “People Mover”, the cable railway linking Tronchetto Island to the maritime station and Piazzale Roma, in the night of Saturday 16th July will be active until 3 a.m. (last departure at 2.50 a.m.).
