On Sunday 30th November, the whole Tuscany celebrates the anniversary of death penalty’s abolition.
“Tuscany Feast” is a typical and usual appointment which joins the participation of all citizens and the Region of Tuscany institutions.
The origins of this feast date back to a legislative bill, to be more precise, the Penal Reform promulgated on 30th November 1786 by Grand Duke Peter Leopold of Lorraine. With this reform, Tuscany put an end to the capital punishment, and marked an important moment of civility which would have changed its history forever.

For all the people who are keen on comics, the most important comics event in Italy Lucca Comics and Games comes back.
Lucca Comics and Games is the International trade fair of comics, cartoons, illustration and games, and it’s a traditional appointment with the picturesque city of Versilia, which most of all in the last years gained the undisputed qualification of comics’ capital.
At Lucca Comics and Games, ongoing from 30th October to 2nd November, it is impossible not to find something connected with imagination and fantasy world.

The next Italian week-end will be entirely dedicated to art and culture. Yes, because on 29th and 30th September Italy will take part to the European Heritage Days, this year with the name “Le grandi strade della cultura: un valore per l’Europa” (“The wide roads of culture: a treasure for all Europe”).
Therefore, to make Italians and tourists happy, during this week-end all the art places, as museums, archaeological sites, and art galleries will open their doors to the public, with free entrance. People will also have the chance to enjoy the organization of many exhibitions, concerts, conferences and guided artistic itineraries.
European Heritage Days are a perfect and unique opportunity to know and explore with no limits all the treasures of our country, discovering historical and artistic details, which make the Italian artistic heritage one of the richest in the world. For two special days, Italians and tourists from every corner of the world will have the opportunity to visit thousands of art places and to see artworks which for the first time will be admired by the public.
In this edition of European heritage Days, special attention will be given to ancient churches and buildings of our country, which are the most important proof of 20th century’s Italian art history, and which have been remained in the shadow for too much time.

In honour of the 150° anniversary of Giacomo Puccini’s birth, a motion-picture exhibition called “PUCCINI AL CINEMA” was organized, created and developped by the Prof. Pier Marco De Santi, Italian movie-picture history lecturer at the University of Pisa and strongly desired by the Puccinian Festival Foundation.
“Puccini al cinema” is taking place from the 28th of June until the 30th of September at the Auditorium of the New Open-Air Theatre of Torre del Lago Puccini (recently built, dedicated to Lucca’s composer) and it is the first collection of motion-picture operas related to Puccini: more than forty films, some of them from the dumb cinema, included the untold film of Puccini’s funeral.

As well as last year the 10th edition of summer carnival in Torre del Lago Puccini is coming soon , with a full calendar of events and entertainments for everyone, from children to adults. The event will take place from the 7th of August until the 17th of August in Piazza della Pace, situated in the center of the versilia’s city.
The programme is variegated and foresees a lot of different events like Latin American music, a beauty contest of the summer carnival (the winner will be the representative of the national finals), an evening dedicated to our four-legged friends (they will walk the runway for a fund-raising devolved to dogs), a cabaret show and dancing exhibitions.
Everyday from 9pm the kitchens will be open for a typical and local sea food dinner with the chefs “Lorenzo e Laura” who will cook the speciality “Gran Cacciucco” and other characteristic dishes.

On Saturday 26th of July, Lido di Camaiore will become the most funniest town of Versilia: twelve hours of entertainments of any sort will create the most important event of the versilian summer: “Notte Lido Blu” (Lido Blue Night).
Four squares of Lido di Camaiore and the near beaches will be the location of this event, that sees two special partners: RIP CURL and W.I.T.C.H. (the Disney monthly magazine).
In LEMMETTI SQUARE the second and last Italian stage of the Rip Curl Girls tour 2008 will take place. This is the 6th edition of the Rip Curl Tour and after six years they have taught surfing to more than 20.000 girls. Professional surf teachers like Elise Garrique, the Rip Curl official testimonial whose life is divided between fashion runways and surf boards, and Valentina Dazzeo, the 2007 Italian Champion, will be engaged in introducing girls to the waves riding. The Lucca Summer Festival comes back with the music program including concerts of many Italian and international artists and it will take place inside the city walls, in the old center of Lucca, “Piazza Napoleone“.
We can reveal some information about the artists: the Patty Pravo Italian tour includes a reinterpretation of the song “La bambola” and Leonard Cohen will have a comeback with a worldwide tour after fifteen years of inactivity. Ennio Morricone will conduct the “Roma sinfonietta” orchestra, the “New roman lyric symphonic orchestra” and the “Claudio Casini” chorus of the Tor Vergata university. At the Festival there will be the Young Summer Competition (21-07-2008), the music contest for rookie bands and lead singers that will go live on Match Music (Sky tv).

It is about to start the second edition of SAPOR BIO which is the exhibition of the Biological Taste organized by Five Bio s.r.l. This year SaporBio will be carried out in cooperation with the most important cities of Versilia’s area: Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi, Pietrasanta and Camaiore.
SaporBio, which will take place from the 11th to the 15th of June, will deal with the bio-ecological world, the show system, the field of food and wine toghether with citizens with the intent to spread the message of living and eating healthily, completely respecting the environment. The goal of SaporBio is the spreading of the biological culture and the civility concerning the ecologically sustainability of environment. This important event wants to suggest the rediscovery of the old genuine tastes, of many new menus and the knowledge of economically sustainable products too.
