26th Intercity Festival in Florence: Theatre, Music, Art and much more until October, 31st

The Intercity Festival has come back to Florence for its 26th edition.

Until 31st October, you will have the chance to enjoy live performances, theatre shows, cinema and photo exhibitions, literary readings, workshops and conferences in the beautiful cradle of Renaissance.

The festival, born in 1988, holds its meaning in the name, because the trains that quickly and directly linked two big cities in Italy were called “intercity”. So, the festival’s purpose is just to connect in the same way the city of Florence and Sesto Fiorentino with another big city in the world and to give the Italian audience an idea of how the show business is arranged

Florence and Tuscany are ready to host the UCI World Championship 2013

At last Florence and Tuscany will have the great opportunity to enjoy such an international event: UCI World Championship 2013.

World Championship will take place from 22nd to 29th September in the cities of Florence, Lucca, Montecatini Terme and Pistoia and their streets will be crowded by the best cyclists in the world, both women and men belonging to the Élite, Junior and Under 23 categories.

The traditional festival Rificolona comes back to Florence on Saturday 7th September

“Ona ona, ma che bella rificolona!”, this is the slogan of Rificolona, Florence’s traditional festival of multicoloured lanterns.

This festival celebrating the eve of Madonna’s birth will begin on 7th September at 8 pm in Florence city centre.

The parade of the lanterns will start from piazza della Signoria and will meet 500 pilgrims coming from the Impruneta Basilica, and they will get to Piazza SS. Annunziata, in memory of the old itineraries covered by the peasants

If you’re nearby Florence in these days, on Saturday 22nd June at 9 pm you can’t miss the San Giovanni Night Marathon that will start in Piazza San Giovanni (Cathedral Square) with a 10-km-long route passing through the most beautiful monuments in the town.

It’s one of the oldest races in Italy and nowadays it celebrates its 74th edition, organized on the occasion of Florence’s Patron Saint (June, 24th).
