The night before the beginning of the Festival, a religious celebration in honour of San Fortunato, fishermen’s Patron Saint takes place: during the celebration 8 volunteers carry a box with the statue of San Fortunato that weighs 400 kilos. After this ceremony,

Italian songs celebrated in Sanremo Festival 2013

Festival di Sanremo edizione 2013

From 12th to 16th February, the unmissable appointment with the festival of the Italian song comes back: the 63rd edition of Sanremo Festival.

The singing competition at Ariston Theatre will be hosted by Fabio Fazio and Luciana Littizzetto, the TV presenter couple of the show “Che tempo che fa”. This is expected to be an edition where humour and biting jokes will be the big protagonists (after the music, of course).

Fabio Fazio will come back on the stage of the Festival, 14 years after the first time, the edition of 1999, when Anna Oxa won the competition with the song “Senza Pietà”.

As the art director, Fazio selected the 14 “Big” competitors who will participate in 2013 edition: Almamegretta, Annalisa Scarrone, Chiara Galiazzo, Daniele Silvestri, Elio e le Storie Tese, Malika Ayane, Marco Mengoni, Maria Nazionale, Marta sui tubi, Max Gazzè, Modà, Raphael Gualazzi, Simona Molinari with Peter Cincotti and Simone Cristicchi. They will play 2 unpublished songs.

Epiphany 2013 in the Region of Liguria

Dear children, are you ready for hanging your socks waiting for Befana, the old, kind woman who brings sweeties and candies? Or maybe, if you’ve been naughty kids last year, she could bring coal to you, as tradition says…

It is said that on every 6th January, the Befana arrives riding her broomstick and bringing many delicious things to the children (just like Santa Claus!). In Italy, it is an old tradition and this day is celebrated for remembering the arrival of the Three Wise Men to visit Baby Jesus or, for the non-believers, the coming of Befana.

What’s up in Liguria on Epiphany Day? In Liguria visitors can find many events and celebrations in different cities, concerts, bonfires, exhibitions and street markets, but also many “Befana Parties” or even many Miss modern Befana Competitions.

Here are some of the major events in Liguria for celebrating Epiphany 2013:
