Start to Run!!! The Marathon of Rome is come back

Here we go again! The marathon of Rome is coming again, this year at its 16th edition and it intends to pay homage to the legendary Olympic Ethiopian champion Abebe Bikila, 50 years after his barefoot challenge at the Olympic Games of Rome in 1960.

Are you ready to run? The start is scheduled on 21st March 2010 at 9.00 am from Via dei Fori Imperiali (near the Coliseum) in Rome, in order to start a lovely spring with a day entirely dedicated to sport and fun.

MICHELANGELO BUONARROTI AN ARCHITECT IN ROME

a project of michelangelo buonarrotiA special exhibition, opened on October 6th, 2009 and dedicated to the extraordinary work of Michelangelo Buonarroti as an architect, under the organization of Musei Capitolini in Rome is approaching to its end. For those who haven’t seen it and wanted to do so, the last day is February 7th, 2010. Beside the famous works in Florence, Siena, Bologna, Venice, the one made in Rome is considered to be among the most important.
Michelangelo had lived in Rome between 1505 and 1516, and afterwards from 1534 until his death in 1564, and during this forty-years long period the artist made numerous great projects, some of them realized, the others unfortunately remained on sheets of paper.
The exhibition is divided in 17 sections organized chronologically and it contains 105 works that remained to testify about the extraordinary inventions of Michelangelo. (more…)

An Exhibition dedicated to the unconventional artist Jacque Villeglé in Rome

Until January 15th 2010, you have time to visit the wonderful retrospective dedicated to the artist Jacque Villeglé entitled “Vacanze Romane” (“Roman Holidays”), set by Dominique Stella at Mucciaccia Gallery in Rome.

In fact for the first time ever, since last October 8th visitors can marvel at 75 his works in the rooms of Mucciaccia Gallery: décollages d’affiches dating back to 1960s ‘til nowadays which keep billboards, adverts and manifestos’ strength and use it in turn to make up and create his décollages which cancel and remove the message and the communication strength of such adverts.

Christmas in Rome: a Wonderful Celebration. The Italian capital’s presents a calendar rich of events

What’s better than spending Christmas time in the charming and historical Rome?

Holidays are coming and this could be a perfect occasion to strolling around the streets of Rome in the footsteps of history and to discover the great cultural heritage and the several traditions, having fun with the many events offered by the Italian capital.

From December 8th to January 6th, the city will offer visitors a wide range of initiatives and activities organized by the Municipality of Rome with the promising slogan “Roma Città Natale. Una festa unica al mondo” (“Rome – the City of Christmas. A celebration in a class by itself”).

Edward Hopper’s Works in Milan!

For the first time, the work of Edward Hopper (1882-1967), one of the most appreciated and successfull American artists of the 19th century, is  on view in Italy!
From 14th October 2009 to 31st January 2010, the Royal Palace in Milan dedicates a very interesting exhibition to him: 160 works on display, from his best-known paintings (such as Pennsylvania Coal Town, A Woman in the Sun e Second Story Sunlight - chosen for the official poster), to never exhibited ones, as Girlie Show.

Special attention is also dedicated to his preparatory drawings, each one shown near the corresponding final painting; a strategy for catching audience’s attention on artist’s way of working, in which preliminary sketches were a key stage. Rome International Film Festival - Edition 2009

Dear cinema addicted, get ready for the return of the Rome International Film Festival!

After the extraordinary success of the previous three editions, the festival comes back in fine shape in the eternal city from 15th to 23rd October 2009, with a programme rich of events, changes, retrospectives and very special guests and meetings.

The Villaggio del Cinema and the stately Auditorium Parco della Musica, designed by the famous Italian architect Renzo Piano, will host this magical event, in the amazing city of Rome which from time immemorial makes artists dream.

The fourth edition of the Rome International Film Festival is put on by the Fondazione Cinema per Roma and promoted by the Fondazione Musica per Roma, the Municipality of Rome, the Rome Chamber of Commerce, the Province of Rome and the Lazio Region.

Cultural Pulsations in Rome: the Romaeuropa Festival 2009

The day after tomorrow, the 24th edition of the world-famous Romaeuropa Festival, the most important event showing performing arts as usual rich of appointments and fabulous events, will start in the eternal city, Rome, from 23rd September to 2nd December.

This year, the festival is entitled “Cultural Pulsations” in order to remind the event’s thought, which intends the creativity rhythm to be a characteristic feature of contemporary society, and wants to show a positive attitude towards the artistic creation surrounding us, putting itself against the current moment of financial crisis.

A Roman Summer…in the Shade of the Coliseum!

Once again, the beautiful Italian capital will host until 5th September one of the most famous events in Rome summer: the time-honored “All’ombra del Colosseo” (“In the Shadow of the Coliseum”) which at its 20th edition, takes place in the Parco del Celio.

For the summer 2009, such an expected event, awarded by the President of Italian Republic and carefully organized by the cultural association Castellum, will bring many changes. The event’s aim is in fact to “refresh” (the keyword has become the symbol of the promotional campaign) and to renovate the activities and the performances offered to the Roman public.

2000 Years of Flavian Dynasty in a Touring Exhibition in Rome

A very special exhibition is still under way in Rome, set up to celebrate the “birthday” of one of the greatest personages of our history. In fact, the notorious Tito Flavio Vespasiano this year has his 2000th birthday, and his city, the wonderful Rome decided to celebrate the event with a particular touring exhibition which until January 2010 will go through the whole capital.
