Mushroom and Chestnut Festival in Val d’Orcia: Tasting Tuscan Autumn Delicacies

On 13th, 19th and 20th October, the traditional Mushroom and Chestnut Festival will be held in the town of Vivo d’Orcia (located in the province of Siena, Tuscany) on the Amiata Mountain.

The festival will give you the chance to taste the best specialties of the area, like the famous mushrooms of Amiata Mountain, as well as the renowned chestnuts.

A Night Marathon, Extraordinary Open of Museums and Fireworks: this is how Florence celebrates its Patron

If you’re nearby Florence in these days, on Saturday 22nd June at 9 pm you can’t miss the San Giovanni Night Marathon that will start in Piazza San Giovanni (Cathedral Square) with a 10-km-long route passing through the most beautiful monuments in the town.

It’s one of the oldest races in Italy and nowadays it celebrates its 74th edition, organized on the occasion of Florence’s Patron Saint (June, 24th).

Spring has just come to Milan

Spring in Milan is going to begin on next Sunday March 10th with “El tredesìn de marz”, one of the oldest festivals and fairs of Milan’s folk tradition.

The origin of this traditional event joins the old Celtic traditions of the city with the devotion to St. Barnabas.

Carnival of Viareggio celebrates its 140th anniversary!

Here we go again! The funniest and most amusing carnival in Italy is coming back: the one of the famous personage of Burlamacco, the masked parades on Sundays, the multicoloured and huge papier-mâché floats: the world-famous Carnival of Viareggio, which this year celebrates its 140th anniversary!

This year, the so much beloved masked parades will take place on 3rd, 10th, 12th, 17th February and 3rd March, in a myriad of confetti and streamers and in company of much music, songs and dances, for the joy of adults and children.

“Puccini al cinema”

Giacomo PucciniIn honour of the 150° anniversary of Giacomo Puccini‘s birth, a motion-picture exhibition called “PUCCINI AL CINEMA” was organized, created and developped by the Prof. Pier Marco De Santi, Italian movie-picture history lecturer at the University of Pisa and strongly desired by the Puccinian Festival Foundation.
“Puccini al cinema” is taking place from the 28th of June until the 30th of September at the Auditorium of the New Open-Air Theatre of Torre del Lago Puccini (recently built, dedicated to Lucca’s composer) and it is the first collection of motion-picture operas related to Puccini: more than forty films, some of them from the dumb cinema, included the untold film of Puccini’s funeral.
The review is divided into two parts:
