“Medieval August” Festival comes back from the Past in Ventimiglia, Liguria

The “Medieval August” Festival was born in 1974 in Ventimiglia (Region of Liguria). Every year, between July and August, history turns into the protagonist of Ventimiglia and such an old and lovely town comes back to its mysterious atmosphere of the past.

The town of Ventimiglia magically gets crowded with people wearing medieval clothing, such as soldiers, ladies, knights, aristocrats and plebeians who challenge each other in competitions in the historical centre, a perfect background for such an event. Summer has arrived with a bang in Pisa with the exceptional event “Luminara 2013”

Here we go guys, finally! Temperature is getting higher and maybe Summer is just around the corner in Italy!

As a matter of fact, here it is soon en event ready for announce the awakening of Summer: on Sunday 16th June, once again, the striking Luminara di San Ranieri will take place in Pisa and, as a tradition, will enlighten the historical centre with thousands candle lights.

The Fish Festival comes back in Camogli, Liguria

Once again, this year on Sunday 12th May, the Fish Festival will take place in Camogli: the event will be held in Colombo Square, the small harbour square.

The Festival was conceived by Filippo Degregori and the first edition was held in 1952: in this edition, bricks kitchens were built in the square and fish was fried all day in six small pans.

The night before the beginning of the Festival, a religious celebration in honour of San Fortunato, fishermen’s Patron Saint takes place: during the celebration 8 volunteers carry a box with the statue of San Fortunato that weighs 400 kilos. After this ceremony,
