Book and Ancient Press Festival in Pisa, 2012

On November 10th – 11th the Ancient Book Festival is back in the city of the most famous leaning tower! (in Piazza Martiri della Libertà).

Since 1989, this event is a must for all collectors, who will find here  rare incunabulums, first editions, and a rich sector of cartography and “vedute”, to suit everyone’s tastes and pockets.

This year the festival can count 40 exhibitors, with a wide range of Italian antiquary libraries.

Pisa: La Luminara and The Regatta of Saint Ranieri

Every year, on 16th June, the Luminara of Saint Ranieri is renewed along the river Arno in Pisa, when the sun goes down.

According to an old tradition, the city of Pisa celebrates with this unique illumination in wax the feast of its Saint patron, St. Ranieri, on 17th June.

The illumination runs along the streets near the river Arno with about 70,000 wax candles that for each edition are set in glasses

Expo Pisa 2012, the trade fair of Tuscan handmade products

From 23rd March to 1st April 2012, the 24th edition of Expo Pisa will be held in the city of Pisa, Tuscany.

This important fair in Pisa every year wants to show the best of Tuscan handmade and manufacturing products, and thousands visitors come from every corner of Italy.

Tuscany Feast comes back again

Tuscany Feast, the yearly event celebrated on 30th November, has been instituted through a regional law in 2000, in order to remember one of the main conquest of mankind in the field of human rights: the abolition of death penalty.

It was the Grand Duke of Tuscany who first abolished death penalty on 30th November 1786 wit Leopold’s reform. He also abolished torture and limbs mutilation, defining such practices barbaric acts.

The Coloured Carpets of Sawdust decorate the beautiful city of Camaiore

On Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th June, Camaiore welcomes once again the several coloured carpets made of sawdust, on the honour of the traditional festivity of Corpus Domini.

As every year, there will be the traditional Corpus Domini procession in the historical centre of Camaiore (a town in the province of Lucca, in Versilia Coast), and just for this occasion, the realization of the carpets of sawdust will be held again by groups of skilled craftsmen in the night of June, 25th. The creation of such unique pieces will start from 8 p.m. of Saturday. The day after, the Saint Mass will be held at 8.30 a.m.
