St Lucy Day Celebrations throughout Italy

Considered the procuress of eyes, the blind, oculists and electricians, the liturgical festival of St Lucy is celebrated on 13th December, some days before summer solstice.

St Lucy’s body, which is currently kept in the Church of San Geremia in Venice, in the past was stolen by the Byzantines in Siracusa and later was purloined by Venetians who conquered Constantinople.

St Lucy celebrations, patron saint of Siracusa, a town located in Sicily, nowadays is a recurring event that crowds many Italian squares with stalls nd stands selling sweets and typical local dishes.

Milan: the Monsterland comes back!

The ex FS trains depot in Milan will be set up with authentic circus tents for this expected night. The line up of the event will transport you in a wide range of musical dimension, techno of Dj Emerson, electro of Vitalic, until 90s music with Datura e Marco Ravelli. The admission fee is €25,00.

Turin: Moviment Music Festival 2013!

8th edition of this unmissable event will start on October, 31st and end on November 2nd. The Halloween Night will take place at the Lingotto Fiere with a super line up. On the main stage consolle Magda, Adam Bayer, Ben Klock, Pan Pot will perform together with many more. The admission fee is €32,00.

Mushroom and Chestnut Festival in Val d’Orcia: Tasting Tuscan Autumn Delicacies

On 13th, 19th and 20th October, the traditional Mushroom and Chestnut Festival will be held in the town of Vivo d’Orcia (located in the province of Siena, Tuscany) on the Amiata Mountain.

Siena’s Palio is coming! 2013 edition of the world-famous Horse Race

Summer is coming, Siena’s Palio too!

Once again, Siena is ready for welcoming thousands visitors coming from every corner of the world who come to Italy for marveling at such a great yearly event taking place in Piazza del Campo, the famous shell-shaped square in the wonderful Tuscan town.

The first appointment of the Palio, the famous, yearly horse race, is scheduled On Tuesday 2nd July, and will see the 10 contradas (districts) of the city in a hard challenge. But how old is the tradition of the Palio? Just think that the borders of each contrada date back to 1729!

56th Donkey Race in Torrita di Siena, Tuscany

As usual, once again the Palio dei Somari (the famous, traditional donkey race) will be held in Torrita di Siena in March.

Celebrations in honor of St. Joseph and the Palio already began on last Saturday, when the order in which Contradas will parade was established with a raffle and the Palio will take place on 24th March (in case of bad weather, the race will be held on 1st April).

Since 1966,
