For all Venetians and foreign visitors, on Sunday 2nd September will take place the famous Venice Historical Regatta.

It is the main event in the yearly “Voga alla Veneta” rowing calendar. This unique sport has been practiced in the Venetian lagoon for thousands of years and today it is well-known for the spectacular historical water parade preceding the race.

Many 16th century-style boats with gondoliers in period costume carry the Doge, the Doge’s wife and all the Venetian officials along the Grand Canal

The 26th edition of Venice Marathon will take place on Sunday 23rd October 2011. This year, probably the 7,000 athletes will be lucky: they will have the chance to cross the wonderful Piazza San Marco.
