57th Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago presents its 2011Playbill

The most awaited summer event in Versilia is coming back: the 57th Puccini Festival will take place from 22nd July to 27th August 2011 at the Great Open-air Theatre dedicated to Giacomo Puccini in Torre del Lago.

Since 1930, the Puccini festival has become a more and more famous event gathering thousands spectators from all over the world. Its 2011 Playbill schedules two new stagings: La Bohème and Madama Butterfly coproduced with the Japanese NPO, besides Turandot.

Torre del Lago, home of the Puccini Festival, lies between the Lake of Massaciuccoli and the Tyrrhenian Sea, 4 km far from the magnificent beaches of Viareggio on the Tuscan Riviera, 18 km from Lucca and Pisa. The Festival welcomes about 40.000 spectators

Festestate 2009: summer events and fun in Torre del Lago

Would you like to spend a summer evening in a different and original way? Then, get ready and visit Torre del Lago, where Festestate edition 2009 will take place from 5th to 16th August.

Now at its 11th edition, this event besides preserving its aspect of a typical local feast, from this year gets renovations by suggesting shows, town fairs and concerts of many famous Italian artists: obviously, everywhere admission is free.

“Puccini al cinema”

Giacomo PucciniIn honour of the 150° anniversary of Giacomo Puccini‘s birth, a motion-picture exhibition called “PUCCINI AL CINEMA” was organized, created and developped by the Prof. Pier Marco De Santi, Italian movie-picture history lecturer at the University of Pisa and strongly desired by the Puccinian Festival Foundation.
“Puccini al cinema” is taking place from the 28th of June until the 30th of September at the Auditorium of the New Open-Air Theatre of Torre del Lago Puccini (recently built, dedicated to Lucca’s composer) and it is the first collection of motion-picture operas related to Puccini: more than forty films, some of them from the dumb cinema, included the untold film of Puccini’s funeral.

10° Carnevale estivo 2008

Carnevale PucciniAs well as last year the 10th edition of summer carnival in Torre del Lago Puccini is coming soon , with a full calendar of events and entertainments for everyone, from children to adults. The event will take place from the 7th of August until the 17th of August in Piazza della Pace, situated in the center of the versilia‘s city.
The programme is variegated and foresees a lot of different events like Latin American music, a beauty contest of the summer carnival (the winner will be the representative of the national finals), an evening dedicated to our four-legged friends (they will walk the runway for a fund-raising devolved to dogs), a cabaret show and dancing exhibitions.
Everyday from 9pm the kitchens will be open for a typical and local sea food dinner with the chefs “Lorenzo e Laura” who will cook the speciality “Gran Cacciucco” and other characteristic dishes.

Puccini one year-long

Giacomo Puccini, one of the most famous Italian composers, was born in Lucca 150 years ago, December 22nd, 1858.
His Operas, including “La bohème”, “Tosca”, and “Madama Butterfly”, are among the most frequently performed in the standard repertoire.

Festival Puccini 2008Many celebrations are planned for his 150° Anniversary in Italy.
In every corner of Italy, Operas, concerts and conferences are organised in honor of him and the community of Lucca will build a bikeway dedicated to the “Maestro” (as people use to call him), that passing by Marina di Vecchiano (Pisa)
