The Carnival of Viareggio! From 16 to 23 February and 1-4-8 March

The idea to celebrate the Carnival of Viareggio bloom in 1873, when the first parade of decorated carriages born in the historic Via Regia, in the heart of the old city.

In 1930, the painter and graphic futurist Umberto Bonetti designed the mask that is still the symbol of the carnival, the Burlamacco.

After the Second World War, the carnival was revived and was chosen as the first external live event from the RAI.

Today, on Mardi Gras, the carnival returns as protagonist on the national tv “RaiTre” with its annual parade of allegorical floats.

Fiera di San Biagio, February 3 to 4 in the historic center of Pietrasanta

Ancient municipality in the province of Lucca, Pietrasanta is the historic capital of Versilia.

The origins of the Fiera are located in the far 400′  the show still involves thousands of people occupying the historic center with entertainment, exchange, curiosity, and many proposals.

During the Fair, the local restaurants offer the “Menu of San Biagio” proposing the best of local cuisine.

Florence Vintage Selection 2014, the 23rd edition at Leopolda Station

The 23rd edition of Vintage Selection is coming at  Stazione Leopolda in Florence.

From January 22nd to January 26th, the great spaces of the oldest railway station of Florence will host a great selection of clothing, gifts and vintage accessories.

The Vintage Selection is one of the most influential and prestigious market-exhibitions in Italy and Europe for fashion, design and vintage culture.

6th BTO – Buy Tourism Online – in Florence

The 6th edition of BTO – Buy Tourism Online will be held from 3rd to 4th December at Fortezza da Basso in Florence.

Two days dedicatet to the world of travel 2.0. with speakers, debates and seminars.

With the participation of 8 regions and over 40 companies, the event will deal with current issues such as sharing economy, web reputation, start-up tourist, future of airlines and links among music, tourism, food and wine.

At the event, visitors will have the chance to meet very  important figures and brands of tourism sector, such as John Alborante (Sales & Marketing Manager at Ryanair), Philip Wolf (PhoCusWright founder), Emirates Airlines, Google and many others.

Everything in the event will be dedicated to operators of tourism industry, students and researchers, workers and future workers in the field of tourism marketing, responsible for the governance of tourism and collective stakeholders.

The Fortezza will be open from 9 am until 5 pm on 3rd December and from 9 am to 8 pm on 4th December.

9th Florence Biennale is coming

Florence Biennale is an independent and self-financed platform where artists from all over the world meet for sharing a unique experience.

The art director of 9th edition is the Professor Rolando Bellini – Professor of History of Art at Accademia delle Belle Arti in Milan – who cooperates with the International Committee for the selection of artists.

The title of the Kermesse, “Ethics: DNA Art”, is inspired by the artist ethical charter of the new millennium presented at the world conference of UNESCO in Florence on March, 11th
